Biography
Monique L. Snowden, Ph.D., is a consultant for SEM Works, a strategic enrollment management and market research firm. Dr. Snowden holds a professor adjoint appointment in the Department of Communication at the University of Colorado Denver (CU Denver), specializing in higher education rhetoric and enrollment discursive practices.
Dr. Snowden has three decades of higher education leadership experience, with strong expertise in advancing the strategic implementation and utilization of technology and analytics for student and organizational success. They began their professional career as a software developer and business consultant for a global information technology solutions and services firm. Prior to joining CU Denver as the (former) senior vice chancellor for strategic enrollment and student success, Dr. Snowden was provost & senior vice president at Fielding Graduate University—having also served in numerous senior leadership positions, including the inaugural associate provost for enrollment management and vice president for academic and enrollment services. They also held enrollment management, research, and technology leadership positions at Northwestern University and Texas A&M University.
Dr. Snowden is a 2015 – 2016 American Council on Education (ACE) Fellow; former commissioner on the WASC Senior College and University Commission; former vice president for access and equity on the Board of Directors for the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (AACRAO); inaugural teaching faculty for the University of Southern California Equity Institutes; national leader, frequent writer, and presenter on learner-centered strategic enrollment management and the enrollment logics that guide higher education practice; founding editorial board member of Strategic Enrollment Management Quarterly (SEMQ); currently serves on the editorial boards for College & University journal and NACADA Journal; and served as co-editor and author for the Handbook of Online Learning in Higher Education (2021). They are currently authoring a chapter on the Future of Learning Mobility for an AACRAO publication that will be released in 2024.
